Jewelry

I had been making costume jewelry since the early 80’s crafting enormous lightweight earrings out of acrylic polymers and canvas. I began working with precious metals in 1991, while I was working for a local dealer of Northwest Coast Art. I first learned engraving by observing several different native artists demonstrating their craft, and then was taught soldering from Blood Nation artist Ken Loo. As my skill set expanded, I began to use jewelry as a platform to experiment with small-scale sculpture ideas.
Currently working on a new collection of jewelry, I’m inspired by the kind of Gothic Art Nouveau that Steampunk takes it’s lead from. It’s not all about the clock gears, or working parts- its about fantasy! Where the human, animal and machine worlds collide! A kind of retro science fiction. I’ll take the lead of the immortal Alexander Mackenzie and do it my way.
